Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters return to Bend

Inspired by Motown and the bluegrass of her native Kentucky, Portland-based singer-songwriter Ashleigh Flynn built her career on esoteric, thoughtful folk music. Though always outspoken, Flynn has upped the volume for her latest project, Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters. Inspired by the iconic World War II-era “Rosie the Riveter” imagery and the 2016 presidential election, The Riveters offer up a soundtrack of empowerment for the modern era on their self-titled debut, released in September. The band, led by guitarist Nancy Luca and (on record), including The Decemberists’ Jenny Conlee, adds Rolling Stones-inspired rock muscle and psych-country influences to Flynn’s statements, resulting in one of her most eclectic and assured efforts yet. Flynn and the band will kick off a support tour for the album at the Domino Room on Friday.

Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters, with Honey Don’t: 9 p.m. Friday, doors open at 8:30 p.m.; $12 plus fees in advance, $15 at the door; Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend; parallel44presents.com or 541-408-4329.
