Who: Mosaic artist Joanie Callen’s works are on display at Red Chair Gallery through Dec. 1. Callen began working in mosaics in 2002 with a focus on the pique assiette technique, where the artist creates a work made out of broken china. Her use of bold and vibrant colors has continued throughout her artistic career where she has explored other methods of creating mosaic including ones used by the ancient Byzantines. She has participated in several juried shows in Oregon and California and is a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists and the Mosaic Guild of Central Oregon.
