Gloria Katz, 76: A Hollywood writer who co-wrote “American Graffiti” and, with her co-writer husband, secretly doctored the script for “Star Wars” to make Princess Leia a leader rather than “just a beautiful woman.” Died Sunday in Los Angeles.

Robert Morris, 87: A sculptor of the post-World War II era who founded minimalism, a style of radical simplification that emerged in the 1960s and influences artists to this day. Died Wednesday in New York.
