A Medford man who went snowboarding on Mount Ashland on Sunday morning has not been seen since, according to Jackson County officials.
Southern Oregon law enforcement officers said Eli Kepsel’s vehicle is in the parking lot at the small ski resort in the Siskiyou Mountains, but the 27-year-old cannot be found.
Search and rescue staff and volunteers are searching the mountain and the area beyond the Mt. Ashland ski resort, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Mt. Ashland opened for the season Saturday.
Kepsel’s family called law enforcement officer at 9:26 a.m. Monday to report the snowboarder was missing.
Sgt. Julie Denney, a sheriff’s spokeswoman, said she was unsure whether Kepsel was carrying a cellphone. The 5-foot-9 man was riding a blue-bottom snowboard and wearing a bright yellow-green colored coat.
