Darrell Dee Davidson passed away in Tucson, Arizona, on December 3, 2018. Darrell was born in Redmond, Oregon, on August 26, 1943. He married Nancy Lunday in Powell Butte, Oregon, on April 25, 1964. They spent 54 wonderful years together.Darrell was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Dee Davidson; his parents, Neal and Jean Davidson; and his brother, Kenneth Davidson. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; their son, K C Dyrol; his brother, Gordon; and three grandchildren, Aaliyah, Constantine, and Arianna. At the time Darrell and Nancy were married, Darrell worked at Ponderosa Moulding Mill in Redmond, Oregon. In 1966, Darrell was hired by Sheriff Poe Sholes as a Patrolman in Deschutes County (Oregon). His tenure at the Sheriff’s Office lasted 30 years. Darrell was appointed to fill the last two years of Sheriff Jim France’s term. He was then successfully elected for two terms, which concluded in 1996. While serving as Sheriff, he was President of the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association and also served on The Board of Police Standards and Training. After retiring from the Sheriff’s Office, Darrell managed Luzon Security and Armored Car Service for seven years. He then moved with Nancy to Fairbanks, Alaska, where they lived for 12 years. He was the enthusiastic owner of a 16’ fishing craft in Alaska and always donned his Captain’s hat at Valdez when the Silver Run was on. Eventually, Darrell’s fishing craft morphed into a Winnebago RV and he piloted journeys through all the western states and ventured east as far as Texas, New Mexico, and North and South Dakota. The Alaska Highway became familiar as the “highway home”…to Fairbanks in the summer and Tucson in the winter. Their period as full-time RV-ers lasted for five years, after which they finally settled in Tucson, Arizona. Those who wish, may make a donation in Darrell’s memory to the Salvation Army or to one’s personal choice. The family will plan a Celebration of Life in Oregon in the Spring of 2019.Darrell loved his family. He enjoyed helping others, making friends, and having fun. He was a good man and he lived a good life.
