Jeanne was born in Minnesota to Oscar and Mary Ann (Ferguson) Neveau on September 27, 1931. The family moved to Oregon in 1941, settling in St. Helens. Jeanne graduated from St. Helens High School in 1949. Jeanne met the love of her life, William J. “Bill” Burgan, Jr., in St. Helens. They were married in Reno, NV., on April 11, 1953, and moved to Oakridge to start their family.
Bill and Jeanne moved to Bend in 1985. They often spent winters in Yuma, AZ., before making their home there in 2004. They moved to Eugene in 2013 to be closer to their family.
Jeanne was a homemaker and worked as a licensed tax consultant in Oregon and Arizona. She volunteered with the AARP tax program in Yuma and at St. Charles Medical Center and Ronald McDonald House in Bend. Those who knew her will fondly remember Jeanne’s home cooking and welcoming nature.
She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her friends and family, often traveling with Bill to watch their grandkids and great-grandkids play sports and other activities.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June; and brothers, Don and Jim. She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Eugene; and two daughters, Gayle (Vern) Woosley of Philomath, and Patti Denney of Eugene; as well as nine grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Her extended family includes many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In April 2018, Jeanne and Bill celebrated 65 years of marriage. Their family and close friends gathered for a luncheon in their honor.
