Red Light Productions is now 1988 Entertainment

Bend-based concert promotion company Red Light Productions is now 1988 Entertainment.

Local musician and promoter John Davis, who started the company in 2004, changed the name after receiving a letter from national artist management company Red Light Management, which works with Alabama Shakes, Gene Ween, Los Lobos, Dave Matthews Band and many others.

The letter from Red Light Management’s lawyers informed Davis that he had 90 days to change his company’s name, Davis said. Red Light Management, which started in 1992, trademarked its name in 2015.

In the past, Davis and his company have brought in shows by artists such as Built to Spill, Pinback, Pennywise, Gogol Bordello, Soulfly, Rhiannon Giddens, Gift of Gab, T.I. and more. Upcoming Bend shows promoted or co-promoted by 1988 Entertainment include Mother Mother at Volcanic Theatre Pub on Monday and Ruthie Foster at the Tower Theatre on March 17.
