Oregon State’s Bresser named conference POW — Oregon State’s Ronnie Bresser has been named wrestler of the week by the Pac-12. Bresser, who is ranked No. 3 in the country at 125 pounds, picked up two wins this past weekend against ranked opponents, improving to 14-1 overall and 6-0 in dual meets. Bresser defeated No. 17 Rico Montoya of Northern Colorado by decision 11-5, helping the Beavers to a dual win over the Bears. At Wyoming, Bresser matched up against No. 18 Cole Verner and defeated him by pin in the second round.

Finalists announced for Lombardi Award — Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew was named one of seven finalists for the 2018 Lombardi Award, the Lombardi Honors announced. The award recognizes NCAA Division I football players who exhibit “performance and leadership honed by character and resiliency.” The six other finalists are Oregon’s Ugo Amadi, Notre Dame’s Julian Love, Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray, Kansas State’s Dalton Risner, Alabama’s Jonah Williams and Clemson’s Christian Wilkins.
