Former Beavers QB completes transfer — Former Oregon State quarterback Conor Blount has found a new home, as he has completed a transfer to Eastern Kentucky. The school announced the transfer Tuesday afternoon. The Colonels compete in the FCS’ Ohio Valley Conference. Blount will have two years of eligibility remaining. Blount left Oregon State following the 2018 season. The sophomore started six games last season, and Blount’s playing time diminished late in the season once senior Jake Luton’s ankle healed. With Luton returning for a sixth season, and rising sophomore transfer Tristan Gebbia in the program, Blount’s opportunity to regain the starting job appeared to be a long shot.

Michigan State star out for season — Michigan State co-captain Joshua Langford will miss the rest of the season with a stress injury in his left foot. “It’s with great sadness that I have to announce that after numerous studies, rehabilitation and an attempt at return, it has been determined that Josh will miss the remainder of the season,” coach Tom Izzo said in a release Wednesday night. The 6-foot-6 swingman from Huntsville, Alabama, averaged 15.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 40.3 percent per game. He averaged 28.4 minutes in his 13 games before leaving the Northern Illinois game on Dec. 29 and not playing since. Langford, who was selected as captain with senior Matt McQuaid this season, did not miss a game in his first 21⁄2 seasons at MSU prior to the injury.

Walker signs with Marlins — Switch-hitting infielder Neil Walker agreed Tuesday to a $2 million, one-year contract with the Miami Marlins and is expected to compete for a starting job. Walker has taken steady pay cuts since 2017, when he accepted a $17.2 million qualifying offer from the New York Mets. His salary is his lowest since 2012, before he was eligible for arbitration. He slumped badly last year, hitting .197 with 19 RBIs in the first half, then improved to .247 with 27 RBIs in the second half to finish at .219 with 11 homers and 46 RBIs in 113 games. Walker has a .268 career average and has reached double figures in homers every year since 2010.
