Teahouses may not be as popular as coffee shops in the U.S., but Central Oregon tea-drinkers have options in this department. Townshend’s Bend Teahouse, which opened in its downtown location 11 years ago, was a clear favorite among readers for Where to GO! for hot or cold tea.
Popular tea varieties at the shop include créme de la Earl Grey, the roasted coconut mate latte (a “secret” drink that is no longer on the menu) and the many varieties of all-natural bubble teas, according to manager Carissa Goenn.
“We see people from all walks of life in here,” Goenn said. “A lot of times in the morning we’ll see people on business meetings, we’ll see people on dates. And then after school we get in the teen crowd that are hanging out with their friends. We get a little bit of everybody, and I think because we’re appealing to everybody, we get in all sorts of people.”
