Where to GO! in Central Oregon for overnight camping

High-mountain scenery, a large lake and beach access make Elk Lake the No. 1 spot for overnight camping in Central Oregon.
The area includes three campgrounds — Elk Lake, Point and Little Fawn. Some campsites can be reserved, and others are first come, first served. All three campgrounds accommodate RV, trailer or tent campers; however, electric hookups are not available.
This area of Cascade Lakes Highway is perhaps one of the most popular for summertime camping. Swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking or just laying on a floaty in the water are all frequent activities at Elk Lake. Myriad trails dot the area, whether hikers are looking for a quick jaunt around the lake or a more demanding outing.
