Portello Winecafe rose to the top for Where to GO! in Central Oregon for wine tasting in this year’s survey. Co-owner Courtney Toci thinks the unpretentious neighborhood atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff at were a big part of the win.
“We have a lot of really passionate people who care about learning and engaging with our customers about wine,” she said.
The owners, Daryl and Courtney Toci, carefully curate the cafe’s wine list with an emphasis on Northwest and European wines. Portello serves around 70 wines by the bottle and 30 wines by the glass (plus beer and non-alcoholic beverages), with selections changing seasonally. The wine list is complemented by a menu of bread, cheese and antipasto boards, salads, paninis, seasonal entrees and dessert selections that include a dreamy chocolate souffle.
Portello’s happy hour is from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday. It features select wines for $5 per glass and a discounted dining menu. Rotating wine flights are offered every Saturday and Sunday night, priced between $10 and $14.
