Baseball

Oregon hands Arizona State 1st loss of season — The Ducks allowed a four-run lead to evaporate late in Saturday night’s game against the Sun Devils, but sophomore Evan Williams cracked a 12th inning walkoff homer to give Oregon (2-3 Pac-12, 12-8 overall) a 5-4 victory over previously undefeated Arizona State.

McGarry homers again in Beavers’ victory — Oregon State’s Alex McGarry continues to be dialed in at the plate — he hit a home run for the fourth consecutive game to help lead the Beavers (2-3, 15-4-1) to a 3-2 win over Arizona on Saturday night. Bryce Fehmel became the fourth pitcher in school history with 30 or more wins.

Softball

Ducks fall to Huskies in extras — Oregon freshman Jasmine Sievers’ solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning tied the game to force extra innings, but Washington’s Amirah Milloy smacked a three-run homer in the 10th to send the Ducks (0-4 Pac-12, 11-14 overall) to their ninth straight defeat.

Beavers lose despite grand slam — Oregon State freshman Frankie Hammoude hit her eighth home run of the season, a grand slam, but it was not enough as the Beavers (1-4, 17-9) lost their fourth straight Pac-12 contest 11-4 to No. 11 Arizona on Saturday in Corvallis.

College Wrestling

Penn State dominates, cruises to men’s team title — Jason Nolf and Bo Nickal came to Penn State after the Nittany Lions had already seized control of college wrestling. The dynamic duo helped them tighten their grip. Nolf (157 pounds) and Nickal (197) ended their collegiate careers with individual championships hours after the Nittany Lions claimed a fourth-straight NCAA team title and their eighth in nine years. With help from 285-pound champion Anthony Cassar, the Nittany Lions totaled 137.5 team points to top second-place Ohio State’s 96.5. Oklahoma State was third with 84, followed by Iowa (76) and Michigan (62.5).

Busch gets 201st NASCAR win — Kyle Busch remained undefeated in the Truck Series this season with yet another victory Saturday at Martinsville Speedway. Busch has won all three Truck Series races he has entered this year, and his latest victory is the 201st national series win of his career.. Busch has 54 career victories in the Truck Series.
