Pacific Power will give the city of Bend a $60,341 grant to install solar panels at its water filtration facility, the city announced Thursday.

The grant will help the city install 360 solar panels at the water facility, a project that has a total cost of $266,000. The city expects the solar panels to generate an estimated 195 megawatt-hours of energy annually, lowering the city’s energy bill by about $12,000 per year.

Construction on the panels will begin later this spring and be completed by the end of the year.
