Sandwich shop opens on Galveston; Next Level Burger and La Magie Bakery close

Sandwich shop — The Skyliners Sandwiches food cart now shares a brick-and-mortar home with The Dough Nut on Galveston Avenue, next to Brother Jon’s Public House. Eric Ross and Matthew Ashbaugh serve oversized sandwiches ($10 to $14), salads and homemade soups ($3 and $5). 1227 NW Galveston Ave., Suite B, Bend; facebook.com, 541-706-0900. Two closures — La Magie Bakery has closed. Owner Di Long told The Bulletin she was closing her popular breakfast-and-lunch café to explore other options. The plans of a new buyer have not been disclosed. 949 NW Bond St., Bend. Next Level Burger has closed its flagship Bend shop, opened in 2014 in Century Center. Specializing in plant-based burgers, owners Matt and Cierra de Gruyter have expanded to eight locations in five states. They have expressed an intention to return to Bend at a later time.
