Like cars, clothes and food, home design has distinct trends. Here’s what you can expect to see in 2018.
Color
Depending on which color-conscious company you listen to, Ultra Violet (Pantone Corp.) or Oceanside (Sherwin Williams Paint Company) are the colors for the year. Both are deep jewel tones that will make any space feel sophisticated, elegant and inviting.
Tone-on-tone
Tone-on-tone is also trending now. Create drama by unifying your wall color with built-ins and furniture.
Metals
Metals are still really hot in 2018 — burnished brass in furniture or used for highlight and accent, or a soft rose gold which looks great with other soft colors such as lilac and white for an overall sensuousness.
Fabric
Velvets are red hot! Burn-out and patterned velvet, again, in rich colors or in bright jewel tones. Furs (faux, of course) are always fun for pillows and accents like a pouf or an ottoman.
For Solidity
For a feeling of weight and permanence, use natural elements to complement the architecture. Wood is always hot — any piece hand crafted locally can lend a good story to your abode. A stone accent on a wall can lend gravitas to a room and the feeling of permanence.
For Whimsy
Baskets add a less serious, eye-catching texture to your room and provide a practical place to store life’s everyday flotsam. Large or small, the pattern and interest they add to any room is always welcome.
So, enjoy the trends and how they can update your home with just a few tweaks. And if you need help along the way, stop in at Chi in Bend to see what’s hot!
