Sisters artist Kathy Deggendorfer has captured the beauty of our bountiful way of life for the 2019 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show theme. Deggendorfer lives on a cattle and hay ranch just outside Sisters on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains, with an art studio in town. Inspired by the color and texture of her surroundings, her vibrant watercolor paintings are whimsical representations of ranch life. Magpies snacking on the cat food and mule deer grazing on the petunias—all end up as models in her art. Deggendorfer’s paintings are often referred to as “painter’s quilts,” and in fact, she has designed fabric for Maywood Studios since 2016. Deggendorfer’s work is collected throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. You can find her at kathydeggendorfer.com. Get your copy of the 2019 quilt show poster autographed by Deggendorfer at the Stitchin’ Post on Saturday, July 13, 9 am to noon. •
