Ten players are within five strokes of the lead going into the final round of the Oregon Open Invitational, which concludes Thursday at Pronghorn Resort.

First-round leader Brian Thornton remains on top through 36 holes. The PGA professional from Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent, Washington, who won this tournament in 2012 at Broken Top in Bend, carded a 1-over-par 73 Wednesday on the Fazio Course and is at 3-under 141. Reid Hatley, an amateur from Hayden Lake CC in Idaho, shot a second consecutive 71 and is one stroke off the lead at 142.

Pat O’Donnell, an amateur out of Arrowhead GC in Molalla, tied for Wednesday’s low round with a 69 to put him alone in third place at 143.

The lone Central Oregon player in the top 10 is Tetherow amateur Justin Kaden, who matched his first-round score with a 73 on Wednesday and is part of a three-way tie for eighth place at 146. Two golfers from Meadow Lakes GC in Prineville, pro Jared Lambert and amateur Mason Tibbs, are part of a four-way tie for 12th place at 148.

The starting field of 208 (104 pros and 104 amateurs) was cut to low 70 scores and ties after Wednesday’s round. Thursday’s final round will also be played on the Fazio Course; first tee time is 7:30 a.m. Tuesday’s opening round was played on the Nicklaus Course.
