Two billboards have gone up in Los Angeles attempting to lure Leonard to play for the Clippers. It is unclear who is behind the billboards, but if the Clippers are involved it could constitute tampering, as Leonard is still under contract with the Raptors. LOS ANGELES — With NBA free agency opening on June 30, a pair of digital billboards wooing NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard went live over the weekend in Southern California.
The billboards are located along northbound Interstate 5 in Downey, south of Los Angeles. One is an image of a California vanity license plate featuring the word KAWHI. Another says King of SoCal plus #KAWHI2LAC.
The identity of the person or group behind the billboards was not immediately clear, but a Los Angeles Clippers spokesman said the organization had nothing to do with the billboards. Because Leonard is still currently under contract with the Toronto Raptors, the billboards could constitute a tampering violation if the Clippers were involved.
