Michael Franti, Ziggy Marley, Lyle Lovett return to Bend

Les Schwab Amphitheater will welcome two returning artists and one newcomer (though no stranger to Bend) to its stage this weekend. Read on for details:

• Honestly, it would be much bigger news if Michael Franti & Spearhead were not playing Les Schwab this summer. The reggae-rocker and his longtime band return to the amphitheater Thursday for their 10th year in a row, this time sharing the bill with reggae royalty Ziggy Marley, who in past years has performed at the Midtown Ballroom and the Athletic Club of Bend. Both artists return to Bend armed with new music (Marley’s “Rebellion Rises” album was released last year, while Franti’s “Stay Human, Vol. II” dropped in January).

Michael Franti & Spearhead, Ziggy Marley: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, gates open at 5 p.m.; $59.50 plus fees in advance, $65 at the gate

• Outlaw country elder statesman Lyle Lovett was in Sisters in January alongside John Hiatt for the Starry Nights fundraiser for Sisters schools. His return to Les Schwab on Saturday promises to be a louder and more extensive affair. This time out, the singer will have His Large Band with him (as he did when he last played Les Schwab in 2015) to tackle classics from “Cowboy Man” to “Stand by Your Man.”

Lyle Lovett and His Large Band: 6:30 p.m. Saturday, gates open at 5 p.m.; $79 plus fees in advance or $85 at the gate for reserved seating, $45 plus fees in advance or $50 at the gate for general admission; Les Schwab Amphitheater, 344 Shevlin Hixon Drive, Bend; bendconcerts.com or 541-312-8510.
