Deaths of note from around the world:

Lonn Taylor, 79: A Smithsonian Institution historian who was an authority on “The Star-Spangled Banner” — both the national anthem and the flag that inspired it — and later became known as a colorful storyteller about life in Texas. Died June 26 in Fort Davis, Texas, from diabetes.

Robert V. Levine, 73: A social psychologist who conducted attention-getting studies into how different cultures perceive time, how car dealerships persuade customers to buy and whether a blind person is more likely to be helped across the street in Nashville, Tennessee, or New York, with Paterson, New Jersey, and New York City ranking particularly low, and Nashville, Houston and Rochester, New York, scoring high. Died on June 22 in Santa Rosa, California, from heart failure resulting from an infection.
