Bend’s Jamie Brown was the top American finisher in his classification Sunday at the International Triathlon Union Paratriathlon World Championships, held as part of the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Lausanne, Switzerland.
On a course consisting of a 750-meter swim in Lake Geneva, a 20-kilometer bike and a 5-kilometer run, Brown clocked a time of 1 hour, 9 minutes, 38 seconds to place sixth among 16 finishers in the men’s PTS4 (moderate impairments) class.
Brown was five minutes off the winning pace set by France’s Alexis Hanquinquant (1:04:37). A second U.S. entry, Joel Rosinbum, whose hometown is Portland though he currently resides in Austin, Texas, finished 15th in 1:17:38.
In July, Brown placed first in his division at USA Triathlon’s Paratriathlon National Championships in Long Beach, California. Last month, he won a bronze medal at the Tokyo ITU Paratriathlon World Cup.
