CORVALLIS — The good feeling from Oregon State’s first football win of 2019 on Saturday did not end last weekend for Beavers season-ticket holders.
The school’s athletic department sent an email Monday to the program’s season-ticket holders and offered a like number of individual tickets to one of Oregon State’s final four home games, at no additional cost.
For example, if someone purchased four 2019 season tickets, they can obtain four additional free tickets to one of OSU’s remaining games against Stanford (Sept. 28), Utah (Oct. 12), Washington (Nov. 8) or Arizona State (Nov. 16).
The athletic department is providing tickets in open seats close in proximity to the season-ticket holder’s current seats.
There are several reasons for making this offer, according to deputy athletic director Zack Lassiter.
One, there is plenty of inventory. Oregon State sold about 14,000 season tickets this season. Reser Stadium holds 45,674.
“We definitely want to create an environment that has as many people in the stands as we can,” Lassiter said.
Two, it is a chance to give something to supporters that does not hamstring OSU athletics financially. It is also an answer to season-ticket holders asking “what about us” as Oregon State makes discounted ticket offers to non-season-ticket buyers.
