Oregon State University-Cascades moved 176 students into its residence building Sunday, the largest number of students living on-campus in the campus’ short history.

Last September, 129 students lived in the residence hall.

Classes start Wednesday at the Bend campus.

One hundred of the students who moved in Sunday are first-year students, according to OSU-Cascades.

Of the students who will live on campus this fall, a large majority, 125, are from Oregon. More than half of those students come from the Portland region, according to OSU-Cascades. The rest of the Willamette Valley is home to 27 of the students living on the OSU-Cascades campus, while 22 aren’t far from home — they’re from Central Oregon.

The 11 remaining Oregon students who moved in Sunday are from Southern and Northeast Oregon, according to the university.

The 45 out-of-state students moving into OSU-Cascades’ campus this fall hail from 14 different states. Although three of Oregon’s neighboring states — Washington, California and Idaho — are represented, other out-of-state students traveled longer distances to live in Bend, coming from far-away states like Hawaii, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Illinois and Texas.

Six international students also moved in Saturday, from countries including China, Indonesia, South Korea and Spain, with two from Vietnam.
