Martin Bernheimer, 83: A prizewinning music critic who combined an encyclopedic knowledge of music with a brilliant, exuberant and sometimes lacerating command of the English language, which even drew readers with no special interest in classical music. Died Sept. 29 at his home in New York City, having been ill with sarcoma for several years.
