Boneyard Beer wins gold at beer festival

Boneyard Beer won a gold medal last weekend at the Great American Beer Festival.

The Bend brewery’s Diablo Rojo took top honors in the American-Style Amber/Red Ale category out of 127 entries, according to festival results.

Boneyard was the only Bend brewery to win gold at the annual event held in Denver. Bend-based 10 Barrel Brewing Co. took home a bronze for its Smash beer in the Fruit Wheat Beer category out of 109 entries.

Two Portland breweries and one from Hood River also won gold medals. Overall, Oregon breweries took home 15 medals, results show.

The festival has been held every year since 1982, according to its website. The Brewers Association puts on the event, which attracted 800 breweries and 4,000 beers.
