Rams’ Cooks out with concussion — Los Angeles Rams receiver Brandin Cooks will not play Sunday against Pittsburgh while he seeks further medical help for his second concussion in a month. The former Oregon State star was ruled out by Rams coach Sean McVay on Wednesday in the wake of at least his fifth concussion during his six-year NFL career. Cooks was hurt Oct. 27 during the Rams’ win over Cincinnati in London, and he has not cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol. He flew to Pittsburgh on Wednesday for the second time since his latest injury to meet with specialists. Cooks first went into the concussion protocol this season during the Rams’ loss to Seattle on Oct. 3 after a hit from Seahawks safety Tedric Thompson. Cooks returned swiftly from that injury, but McVay says the Rams are being cautious. Cooks has 27 receptions for 402 yards and a touchdown in eight games for Los Angeles this season.

Air Force-New Mexico game postponed after player’s death — The football game between Air Force and New Mexico scheduled for this weekend has been postponed following the death of a Lobos defensive lineman. Air Force will travel to New Mexico on Nov. 23 instead, the Mountain West Conference said Wednesday. New Mexico announced the death of 21-year-old Nahje Flowers on Tuesday. The university did not provide a cause or other circumstances. Flowers was from Los Angeles and had been at New Mexico since 2016. This season, Flowers had 13 tackles and 11⁄2 sacks.

Giants reportedly down to 3 manager finalists — The San Francisco Giants have narrowed their search for a new manager to three finalists, a person with direct knowledge of the process said. Former Phillies manager Gabe Kapler, Astros bench coach Joe Espada and Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro are the final three vying to replace Bruce Bochy, the person said Wednesday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the candidates’ names have not been made public. Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi is taking his time making the hire. He has known since February that Bochy would retire. Others who had been considered were Dodgers bench coach Bob Geren, Giants coaches Ron Wotus and Hensley Meulens, and Athletics coach Mark Kotsay. Bochy managed the Giants to World Series championships in 2010, 2012 and 2014. San Francisco went 77-85 in his final year. The San Francisco Chronicle first reported the three finalists Wednesday.
