All that singing this week in Sunriver? “American Idol” was holding auditions.

Judge Lionel Richie posted a photo to his Instagram account Thursday with a caption that read in part, “I’m out here exploring Oregon. … A little kayaking and a little fishing.” Photos of the inside of Sunriver Resort’s Great Hall were also posted to “American Idol’s” Facebook page.

But “American Idol” public relations representatives and Sunriver Resort’s marketing director would not speak on the record about the visit.

The popular music competition, which first aired on Fox in 2002, prides itself on taking everyday singers and making them into stars. It features a panel of judges, public voting and Emmy Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest.

Also returning next season will be music industry legends and all-star judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Richie. Multimedia personality Bobby Bones also will be back as in-house mentor.

Now airing on ABC, “American Idol” holds auditions across the country to select contestants for the show. It started a 22-city tour in Brooklyn, New York, in July, but none of the locations listed by ABC was in Oregon.

Its next season is expected in February 2020, according to the network.

Among the show’s most successful winners were Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
