The Spinners

Somehow, despite receiving three nominations this decade and being eligible since the 1980s, The Spinners are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course, one could argue — as this reporter has for years — that this negligence is par for the course for the Rock Hall. But there’s no arguing The Spinners’ influence on soul and R&B music, from its early Motown releases to its prime hit-making years on Atlantic in the ’70s and ’80s, encompassing songs such as “I’ll Be Around,” “Then Came You” (with Dionne Warwick), “Working My Way Back to You” and “The Rubberband Man,” which enjoyed a recent resurgence thanks to its appearance in last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War.” Though its chart-topping days are behind it, the group continues to tour with Henry Fambrough as the only original member of the original, 1954 quintet. The current lineup — Fambrough, Jessie Peck, Charlton Washington, Marvin Taylor and Ronnie Moss — will perform at the Tower Theatre on Thursday.

The Spinners: 7:30 p.m. Thursday; $47, $57 or $72 plus theater preservation fee; Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St., Bend; towertheatre.org or 541-317-0700.
