A 19-year-old Bend resident was arrested on suspicion of DUII, hit-and-run and manslaughter charges Tuesday after allegedly swerving onto the shoulder of Century Drive and striking and killing a cyclist, according to Oregon State Police.
The crash occurred a few miles west of Bend near Seventh Mountain Resort. Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene at around 6:15 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota Land Cruiser traveling east and driven by Flynn Lovejoy swerved onto the shoulder and struck cyclist Richard Wolf, a 61-year-old Bend resident, OSP said in a prepared statement.
Wolf died at the scene.
Lovejoy was lodged at the Deschutes County jail, police said. However, he was not listed on the inmate list Wednesday afternoon.
