One of the Oregon Coast’s most popular attractions is temporarily shutting down, as a COVID-19 surge has led to record numbers of cases and hospitalizations in Oregon.
The Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City announced Thursday that it had closed to the public with a goal to reopen on Aug. 26. The Siletz Tribal Council and the Chinook Winds senior executive team made the decision “in the interest of public health and safety,” the casino said.
“We will continue to monitor developments and the advice of local, national and world health organizations,” Chinook Winds said. “We will make our decision when to reopen based on our ability to provide a safe environment for our team members and guests.”
All promotions and events scheduled for the next two weeks at Chinook Winds will be canceled, and tickets will be refunded, the casino said.
