A Warm Springs man was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was attempting to cross U.S. Highway 26 on Tuesday.

The collision occurred around 6:40 p.m. near Indian Head Casino. A silver Chevrolet Silverado hit a man who’d stepped out to cross in a poorly lit area, according to a statement by Warm Springs Police Lt. Ron Gregory.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both the driver and the pedestrian were tribal members. Police did not provide their names.
