Old Mill’s Confluence Fly Shop unveils in-house bar

The Confluence Fly Shop in Bend is now trying to reel in some beer drinkers. That is the idea behind a new bar-within-a-shop concept now underway in the Old Mill District.

Beer and fishing do tend to go hand-in-hand, so shop owner Tye Krueger thinks the idea will take off. The recent shop remodel includes a 20-foot long bar, and a sliding glass door that opens up to a patio with seating. The menu features beer, wine and cider, and the bar is open during normal store hours.

The additions are meant to “enhance the experience” for customers attending fly shop classes events, and guided trips, according to a news release from the Old Mill District. Krueger said he hopes the bar will attract fishermen to share stories over beers.

“Swapping lies over a cold beer with your friends is a natural next step after a day on the water,” said Krueger.

The shop is located at 375 SW Powerhouse Drive, in the Old Mill District. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mon-Sat and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
