Michael Mann, world-renowned climate scientist, to speak in Bend

A world-renowned climate scientist is scheduled to speak in Bend at the end of March.
Michael Mann, a climatologist and geophysicist, will speak at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes, 2850 NW Rippling River Court, at 6:30 p.m. March 31. Tickets are $25 per person, and students can attend the talk for free.
The event will be followed by an optional dessert and wine reception with Mann at 8 p.m. Tickets for both the presentation and reception are $75 per person, and attendees will receive a gift bag including a copy of Mann’s latest book, “The New Climate War: The Fight to Take Back our Planet.”
The presentation will cover why it is important to reverse decades of climate inaction and how the worst impacts of a future climate crisis can be prevented.
Mann is a distinguished professor of atmospheric science and director of the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State University. He has received numerous awards for contributing to the scientific understanding of climate change, and in 2020 he was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
