Silver Rail Elementary gets new principal

A new principal will start work at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend on July 1. 

The superintendent of Bend-La Pine Schools, Steven Cook, announced Friday that the school district hired Megan Filiault as Silver Rail’s next principal. 

“Megan Filiault’s values and experiences are a wonderful match for the Silver Rail community, where she will bring a spirit of collaboration and rich experience leading inclusive, welcoming school environments,” Cook said.

Filiault, who is bilingual, currently works for the Parkrose School District as the principal of Sacramento Elementary School in Portland, a job she has held for four years.

Filiault said one of her primary beliefs as an educator is that every student should be treated as an individual, and she plans to focus on academic learning and social-emotional learning. 

Filiault has 20 years of teaching experience including time in Oregon, Texas and Bolivia.
