Jim Thompson passed away March 1, 2022 due to complications from cancer. He was born in Victoria, Tennessee to William and Etta Mae February 1, 1932.

He came to visit his brother George in Bend in 1954 after leaving the Army. He met and married Sally Shipley that visit and they raised their family on Georgia Ave. Jim and Sally were married 64 years. Jim was a retired mill worker who also worked at Mt. Bachelor as a ski patrol in the early 60s. The family spent weekends on the mountain in the winter. Summers were spent skiing and camping at Cultus. Jim was a trustee in the Elks and belonged to the Eagles in the 70s and 80s. He coached boxing and loved watching it on TV. He coached and officiated softball for many years and was an avid bowler.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife Sally (2017) and son Jimmy (2013). Jim is survived by his son Dan Thompson (Roverta); daughter Roxanne Stephens (Greg); 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Flowers or donations can be sent to Partners In Care in Jim’s name.
