The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued eight penalties totaling $51,751 in February for various environmental violations, including one in Redmond.
PCC Structurals Inc., doing business as PCC Schlosser, was fined $15,000 for improper management of hazardous waste in 2019. The company does titanium casting, mostly for the aerospace industry, in their Redmond facility at 345 NE Hemlock Ave.
According to DEQ, its inspectors saw hazardous waste being stored “out in the open, in unlabeled containers.” It noted several other minor violations of hazardous and universal waste requirements.
The company must either pay the fine or file an appeal within 20 days of receiving notice of it, according to DEQ. Penalties may also include orders requiring specific tasks to prevent ongoing violations or additional environmental harm.
