There’s a lot going on in the area Saturday night, and most of it is aimed squarely at fans of folk, rock, pop and blues music. Which is fine! No judgment here.
But if you’re looking for music that’ll blitz your brain, melt your face and pulverize your bones into dust, then you want what’s happening at The Capitol in downtown Bend. Here’s the lineup:
Trending
Rat King: A Seattle trio that plays a very fast, punk-influenced brand of death metal, also known as grindcore. Blast beats, growls, buzzsaw guitars!
Bummer: A Seattle band that plays powerviolence music, which is a particularly cacophonous style of hardcore punk. Harsh but cathartic!
Foes: Central Oregon’s own purveyors of seriously heavy, chaotic hardcore punk. Their 2020 album “American Violence” is a relentless sledgehammer of sound.
Pain Without End: A relatively new band within Bend’s heavy scene, this is crusty, grinding hardcore punk by a trio of longtime local noisemakers.
Should be gnarly. Hopefully some Mt. Joy fans will accidentally wander in and join the fun!
Rat King, Bummer, Foes and Pain Without End: $12, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, The Capitol, 190 NW Oregon Ave., Bend, facebook.com/bend.pyrate.punx.
