Mary and Herb Arathoon of Bend will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 7. They will be celebrating with their children and granddchildren in Punta Mita, Mexico, in February.

The couple were married in Bend, in 1972, after graduating from Oregon State University. They settled in Guatemala where Mr. Arathoon ran his family’s lumber business. Their three children were born in Guatemala. After 14 years the family moved to Bend. They both love to travel, most recently to Spain, and spend time with their children and six granddaughters, Mia and Alexis, Abby and Zoe, Naomi and Sarah.

Mr. Arathoon is a retired Property Manager and Commercial Real Estate Broker and Mrs. Arathoon has retired from working at Macy’s.

The couple has lived in Central Oregon for 35 years.
