Revenue from entrance fees is used for road and facility maintenance and repairs, trail improvements, exhibit installation, visitor services and resource protection, among other things, the release said.
As of November, Crater Lake had seen 521,775 visitors this year, according to park service visitor statistics. Visitation has steadily declined at the park since 2018.
Crater Lake’s Rim Drive and North Entrance Road are closed for the winter. They will reopen in late spring or early summer depending on road conditions, according to the park service.
The road to Rim Village is also temporarily closed due to wet snow, high winds and falling trees, according to an alert from the park service.
