A moving experience with a psychic medium

I’ve had some pretty cool experiences as a journalist, from flying in planes (and notably confusing the words “yoke” and “yolk,” which irked one reader to no end) to poking fun of drivers in roundabouts to playing mall Santa for a bit to trying comedy improv to writing about my love of skateboarding to ziplining at Mt. Bachelor and many, many more experiences I’ll someday relive if and when I go back through personal and online archives and reread my own stories.

On the last Thursday of January, I added to the pile of professional experiences a sit down for a reading with a medium. That is, I sat down with Michelle Mejaski, a longtime Bend theater choreographer, dancer and producer who is moving in an altogether new direction: working as a psychic medium.

It was an interesting experience, and not altogether unlike a cathartic therapy session. I included more details about it in my pair of stories about Mejaski, her future plans and her penultimate show, the comic musical “Something Rotten!” opening Friday at Cascades Theatre in Bend.
