COCC hires new campus safety and emergency management officer

Cory Darling has been hired as the new campus safety and emergency management officer at Central Oregon Community College.

Central Oregon Community College has hired former Sunriver Police Chief Cory Darling as its new campus safety and emergency management officer.

Darling will start at COCC on April 3.

Throughout his 35-year career, Darling has focused on crisis intervention, training, community partnership and emergency preparedness, and will bring his experience to COCC, the college said in a press release.

Darling holds a degree in criminal justice from American Military University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, according to the college. He served on the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team for 16 years. Darling is currently a board member for the Oregon Association of Chiefs of Police.

Darling has also held several positions as a law enforcement training instructor. He was previously president of the Oregon Tactical Officers Association.
