Students from Redmond School District’s three high schools will get a chance to preview career technical education programs at Central Oregon Community College’s Redmond campus on April 7. The day will focus on the manufacturing, automotive, and apprenticeship programs. 

The day will feature sessions that explain the automotive program’s Tesla and its driver-assistance system, as well as sessions in carpentry and metalwork, among others. Students will rotate through a slate of stations.

Students will also receive information about the college’s veterinary tech program, as well as a tour of the campus and a free lunch. The college received coordination help from the High Desert Education Service District.

Organizers hope to make this an annual event, as this is the first time the preview day is being held at COCC’s Redmond campus.
