Police seize 36 pounds of meth in La Pine traffic stop

Oregon State Police recovered approximately 36 pounds of suspected methamphetamines and approximately two pounds of suspected heroin with the help of an OSP narcotics detection canine on March 21st.

Oregon State Police recovered approximately 36 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 2 pounds of suspected heroin during a traffic stop last week. 

At about 2:30 p.m. March 21, an Oregon State Police Senior Trooper stopped a 2015 Nissan Altima for a routine traffic stop on U.S. Highway 97 northbound, near La Pine. During the stop, the trooper noticed signs of criminal activity, Oregon State Police said in a release.

An Oregon State Police drug dog was brought in and detected narcotic odors, police said. The vehicle was searched, and drugs were discovered in the vehicle. 

The driver, Anabel Torres, 38, of Sunnyside, Washington, and the passenger, Audel Torres Perez, 38, of Sunnyside, Washington, were both questioned and released, and charges are pending, according to police.
