Will society accept the release of the people connected with the murder of Barbara Thomas?
Remorse now? Did they really get what they deserved? Do they deserve freedom? Well, the family of Barbara Thomas does not think so I’m sure! I am an outsider who knew one of Barbara’s friends, who has since passed away from cancer. She thought her a wonderful friend and was shocked terribly when the murder happened! This is a bitter injustice! Will society accept them? They’re going to get a chance to find out! Lucky them!

Republican Senators are failing Oregon
It’s pretty obvious Republican Senators have no concept of “democracy”, and don’t realize they are in the minority because folks prefer Democrats and democratic policies.
The Republican mantra of “right to life” falls flat when people realize ‘only’ some lives matter to Republican politicians. I’m saying politicians, so I don’t include Republicans who may not agree with their politicians.
The two bills in the Oregon Senate that Republican walkouts are abandoning their jobs to thwart are bills generally approved of. Otherwise, there would be a Republican majority instead of a Democrat majority.
Republicans profess to love children, that’s why they want so many of them born (tongue in cheek). But they only love children that are white, definitely male or female (no LGBTQ). Forget the idea that God may have made a mistake when a child was conceived and “God” given medical knowledge can now correct the mistakes.

The other issue that puts the lie to “Rs love children” is that they place gun ownership over the lives of children. It’s said; guns are now the primary cause of death in children. If Rs really love children, they would be first in line to ban military style weapons that were developed for one purpose only. to kill as many people as possible, in the shortest period of time.
Recent letter writer Sam Lewis is right. We wouldn’t have jobs if we walked off because we didn’t agree with something. Which makes me wonder. Are the absent Republicans still being paid?

Republicans are defying the will of the voters
I am deeply concerned about The Bulletin’s article, “New GOP PAC prepares for fight over Senate reelection bans.” How incredibly disheartening to see Senate Republicans disregarding the majority vote in all 30 Senate districts.
As stated in the article, the measure approved by a majority of voters in all districts states that 10 unexcused absences would bar a lawmaker from reelection. The widespread support demonstrates the importance Oregonians place on elected officials fulfilling their responsibilities and effectively representing their voices. Senators must respect the democratic process and the will of the people they serve.
By participating in the walkouts, these Senate Republicans fail to fulfill their obligations to the Oregon people by neglecting their legislative duties and prolonging their absence. They must understand that constituents expect active participation, meaningful debates and informed decisions that shape our state’s future.
Oregonians have entrusted elected officials to address critical issues, craft policies, and make decisions impacting citizens’ lives. To fulfill these responsibilities, these Senators must promptly return to work, actively participate in legislative sessions, and ensure the voices of the Oregon people are heard and represented.
Public service is not a part-time commitment: it requires undivided attention and active engagement. Elected officials must prioritize constituents’ needs over personal and political considerations.
I urge the Senators to set aside differences, prioritize people’s well-being and work towards finding common ground. They must recognize that their actions, or lack thereof, have consequences beyond party lines. The voters have spoken, and it is time for the Senators to listen and act according to the people’s will. The Republican Senators participating in the walkouts must return to the Senate and represent their constituents.
