Here are the candidates for The Bulletin’s Athletes of the Week for Sept. 18-23 as nominated by local coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
Please read through the nominees and cast your vote for one male athlete and one female athlete.

Girl nominees
Ava Simone, Summit soccer: In Summit’s first win of the season, Simone scored one of the three goals in the Storm’s 3-0 victory over Ridgeview on Sept. 19.
Mikayla Hatfield, Mountain View soccer: The freshman goalkeeper helped the Cougars start IMC play with a victory by making 12 saves in Mountain View’s 2-1 win over Redmond on Sept. 22.
Gracelyn Myhre, Sisters volleyball: Myhre had 12 kills, was perfect with her serves and led the Outlaws with a 2.6 (out of 3) pass rating in their 3-0 sweep of Siuslaw on Sept. 21.
Paige Stewart, Crook County soccer: In two games last week, Stewart had 18 saves, including a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Molalla on Sept. 21.

Jaycee Villastrigo, Crook County volleyball: In the Cowgirls’ wins over Molalla and Gladstone, as well as the Marist Round Robin Tournament, Villastrigo had nine aces and 43 digs.
Lillimae Brumble, Crook County volleyball: In the Cowgirls’ five matches last week, Brumble tallied 40 kills and three blocks.
Ella Jenning, Caldera soccer: In Caldera’s 2-1 win over Bend High on Sept. 20, Jennings scored both goals to help the Wolfpack start IMC play with a victory. The senior forward has seven goals through six games this season.
Boy nominees
Justin Seung, Bend soccer: In the 77th minute of a 0-0 game against Caldera on Sept. 20, Seung broke the scoreless tie with a game-winning goal to lift the Lava Bears past the Wolfpack.
Houston Wittenburg, Culver football: Wittenberg completed 23 of 35 passes for 431 yards and seven touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 67-50 loss to Willamina on Sept. 21.
Johnny Brabb, Redmond football: Brabb did a little bit of everything in Redmond’s 21-18 win over Glencoe on Sept. 22. On defense, Brabb had 12 tackles and an interception. On offense, he caught a 56-yard touchdown, and he was 3-for-3 on PAT attempts.
Mason Morical, Caldera cross-country: At the Northwest Classic at Eugene’s Lane Community College on Sept. 23, Morical finished fourth and was the highest-placing sophomore in the 5A/6A 5,000-meter run. Morical finished in 15 minutes, 25 seconds, shaving 42 seconds off his personal best.
Alex Byler, Caldera football: With Caldera trailing Crook County 16-14 with less than two minutes to play on Sept. 22, Byler kicked the game-winning 35-yard field to give the Wolfpack the 17-16 victory.
