Andrew Duhon

There’s a lot going on this week. Here are some more shows worth your time and attention.

It’s a relatively slow week at Volcanic Theatre Pub (70 SW Century Drive, Bend), with only two shows on the books. Saturday night’s visit by psych-rock giants Brian Jonestown Massacre is sold out, so if you don’t have tickets for that (or even if you do), hit the venue Friday night to check out Andrew Duhon, a New Orleans singer-songwriter who blends folk and blues into a sound that goes down real easy. 8 p.m. $20. volcanictheatre.com.

The Belfry (302 E. Main Ave., Sisters) will host a roots-rock hootenanny Sunday, with local band Billy and the Box Kid opening the evening and The Sam Chase & The Untraditional closing it down. Based out of San Francisco, The Sam Chase is a guy with serious storytelling skills and a perfectly scruffy voice, and his backing band, The Untraditional, knows how to turn his stories into irresistible singalongs. 7 p.m. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. belfryevents.com.

Portland blues and R&B legend Sonny Hess will return to McMenamins Old St. Francis School (700 NW Bond Street, Bend) Wednesday night. For decades, Hess has been playing around the Northwest, filling venues with soulful tunes and dynamic guitar licks. She’ll do the same in Father Luke’s Room, an intimate venue that’ll give guitar geeks a chance to watch her work her magic up close. 6-9 p.m. Free. mcmenamins.com.
