Former pro cyclist Chris Horner, of Bend, set to give talk at Tower Theatre

Former professional road cyclist Chris Horner, a longtime Bend resident, is set to give a presentation at Bend’s Tower Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m.

“An Evening with Chris Horner” will be a casual format in which the audience will be encouraged to ask questions and drive the direction of the presentation. A private road ride with Horner will be raffled off at the end of the talk. All proceeds will benefit Horner’s new venture, the Horner Cycling Foundation.

Horner, 51, rode professionally between 1996 and 2019 and is the first American rider to win the Vuelta de Espana. He resides in Bend with his his wife Megan and their children. Horner competed in the Tour de France seven times and raced in the 2012 Olympic games in London. He won the Tour of Spain in 2013 at the age of 41, becoming the oldest rider to ever win a Grand Tour.

Horner has been a Tour de France commentator for NBC sports and for his YouTube channel, The Butterfly Effect.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids and students, plus a $4 Historic Preservation fee. Tickets are available at www.towertheatre.org

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program runs from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

The Mission of the Horner Cycling Foundation is “to create a junior road cycling team that is inclusive, accessible to all socioeconomic statuses with the focus on skill development, team building and fostering a life-long love of cycling.”
