Halloween: For kids, it’s a time to dress up, go out and get buzzed on candy.

For adults — in Central Oregon, at least — it’s a time to dress up, go out and get buzzed on live music and possibly other stuff. As there is every year, this week brings a bunch of fun Halloween parties centered around music. So what time is it? Roundup time!

Midtown/Domino Room

Beats and bass is the name of the game at the Domino Room and Midtown Ballroom (51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend), where local promoter 1988 Entertainment will throw back-to-back shows for lovers of bass-heavy electronic music, but not before local rappers have a night to themselves.

On Thursday night, longtime Bend MC Chandler P will host his fifth annual Halloween Bash at the Domino Room, with performances by local hip-hop luminaries The Clumzys, gabriel LTA, Tyler Martian & Northorn Lights, GH808 and G. Milez. If you are interested in an overview of the Central Oregon rap scene, here’s your chance. 8 p.m., doors open 7 p.m. $15, $30 for VIP.

Most Popular

On Friday night, it’s time for “House or Treat” headlined by British DJ and producer Taiki Nulight, whose deep house sound is influenced by UK garage music. This dude’s Soundcloud is a treasure chest of head-nodding good times. The opener is someone who has chosen the impossible-to-Google name Ballads. Doors open at 7 p.m. $25.

Saturday night brings to the Midtown Ballroom the annual Wicked dance party, with Chee, Eastghost, Project, special guest Machinedrum and the return of Los Angeles-based beat scene heavyweights The Glitch Mob.

Now just ediT and Ooah, the group’s sound is as, yes, glitchy as ever, with a special focus on grimy industrial bass and plenty of melodic hooks. Doors open at 7 p.m. $35.

Silver Moon

Across the street at Silver Moon Brewing (24 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend), two very different shows will take over two different nights. First up is the second annual Punk-O-Ween on Saturday night, featuring a bunch of local bands that play heavy, fast and/or both. The lineup includes Pain Without End, Dead Nettle, Poolside Leper Society, Helga and more. Music starts at 1 p.m., $13 in advance, $20 at the door.

Then on Tuesday night, the pub will host The Halloween Bass Crypt, which sounds fairly terrifying, but it’s actually just a night of dancing and spooky electronic music by Schaab, Swell, EyeNEye and LiamLantern. 8 p.m. $5.

McMenamins

At McMenamins Old St. Francis School (700 NW Bond Street, Bend), local improv-friend rock band Watkins Glen is going to celebrate Halloween a bit differently: By playing only music released in 1973, “in our opinion, one of the finest years ever in music history,” says the band. Does that mean we’ll hear some Pink Floyd? Stevie Wonder? Steely Dan? Black Sabbath? Only Watkins Glen knows for sure. As for you, you’ll have to go to find out. 8 p.m. Saturday, $10.

The Belfry in Sisters

On Saturday night, The Belfry (302 E. Main Ave., Sisters) will host its 11th annual Halloween Extravaganza, featuring costumes, dancing and music by Oregon blues-rocker and longtime local fave David Jacobs-Strain and the Crunk Mountain Boys. The people in Sisters know how to party, don’t ya know? If you don’t, now you do. 7 p.m. Saturday, $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
