Here are the candidates for The Bulletin’s Athletes of the Week for Oct. 16-21 as nominated by local coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.

Girls
Lucy Schuller, Bend High volleyball: In two games that clinched the Intermountain Conference title for the Lava Bears, Schuller had five service aces, 21 kills and a hitting percentage of .459. The senior outside hitter also had 23 set assists and 10 digs combined in the two wins over Ridgeview (Oct. 17) and Summit (Oct. 19).
Avery Arment, Caldera volleyball: In IMC matches against Redmond and Mountain View, the junior defensive specialist had six assists, five kills, 24 digs, four aces and a pass percentage of 2.12.
Jaymi Dickinson, Caldera soccer: In Caldera’s 5-0 win over Mountain View on Oct. 20, the junior scored twice and assisted on another goal to keep the Wolfpack unbeaten in IMC play.

Emily Ruiz, Crook County soccer: The Cowgirls boosted their postseason odds with a 1-0 win against Estacada on Oct. 20. The junior midfielder scored the game-winning goal.
Kensey Gault, Ridgeview soccer: The senior forward scored one goal and assisted on another in the Ravens’ 3-0 win over Redmond on Oct. 19. Gault would later find out after the game that she was playing the latter part of the match on a broken leg.
Gracie Fred, Mountain View soccer: Coming off of a shin splint injury, Fred played a key role for Mountain View’s defense against the conference’s top two teams in Caldera and Summit.
Boys
Logan Nakamura, Ridgeview football: In a shootout loss against Bend High on Oct. 20, the junior wide receiver had 11 receptions for 121 yards.
Angel Valenzuela, Mountain View football: In a top-five showdown win over Summit on Oct. 20, the sophomore running back carried the ball 34 times for 115 yards and contributed on all three of Mountain View’s touchdowns, scoring twice on the ground and throwing for a touchdown.
TJ O’Sullivan, Caldera soccer: As Caldera’s left back defender, O’Sullivan scored one goal and had an assist in the Wolfpack’s 3-1 win over Redmond on Oct. 16. He also had an assist in Caldera’s 2-2 draw against Mountain View on Oct. 20.
Jack Billowitz, Bend High mountain biking: Billowitz won the boys individual state title at the Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League state championship with a time of 56 minutes, 46.80 seconds in the 14-mile race, helping the Lava Bears claim the team state title as well.
